International Open Positions

A 2 years Young Researcher position, extendable to a 4 years PhD doctoral study in the field of  “3D printing of electrical applications” is open at the KU Leuven, Advanced Manufacturing research Laboratory (AML), Mechanical Engineering Technology Cluster (METC), Campus de Nayer.
The final aim of the project is to develop customized smart solutions and industrial applications based on electronic printing technologies. Focus will be on the development of thermal and force sensors, interconnects and antennas, printed via Aerosol Jet based techniques (AJP) on flat and customized shapes, and to integrate them into medical and consumer products. The candidate is expected to develop printing strategies for the realization and validation of a given number of electrical applications, and he will be supported across the whole process, from electrical design to materials selection, printing, experimental set-up and testing. The candidate is expected to develop multidisciplinary competence in various areas, including 3D printing, ink rheology, electrical design, machine components, and experimental testing. You are enthusiastic creative and an independent skilled researcher, willing to pursuit a doctoral degree, then please see at: https://icts.kuleuven.be/apps/jobsite/vacatures/54355275

A 4 years PhD position or a 3 years post-doctoral position in the field of 3D printing for Tissue Engineering (TE) is open at the KU Leuven, Advanced Manufacturing research Laboratory (AML), Mechanical Engineering Technology Cluster (METC), Campus de Nayer.
The project aims to develop a novel stenting approach for the surgical treatment of chronic rhinosinusitis. Specifically, we aim to create a novel stent that addresses shortcomings of current solutions by: (1) fabrication of the stent by 3D printing (2) utilization of a novel, biodegradable polymer as the stent material; (3) immobilization of relevant anti-inflammatory compounds on the outside surface of the stent; and (4) development of a new cellular lining (epithelium) formed from autologous cells seeded. The project is part of an interuniversity collaboration, and the researcher will have the opportunity to interact with the groups of University of Gent and Free University Brussels (VUB). The KU Leuven researcher will specifically be assigned to the above described points (1) and (3), including in vitro characterization of the constructs. You are enthusiastic creative and an independent skilled researcher in TE, then please see at: https://icts.kuleuven.be/apps/jobsite/vacatures/54352374
