3DPRIN - 3DPRINting of multi-material parts for cranial implants.
Developing new AM solutions to fabricate parts made from heterogeneous materials, from polymers to metals, is the aim of the project. In particular, it focuses on the 3D printing of personalized, biocompatible and functionalized biomedical materials to manufacture new prostheses for cranioplasty. The prostheses are made up of a metal core incorporated into a polymeric shell which guarantees the required mechanical-biological properties. Furthermore, the polymeric material is functionalized to enhance its biological interactions, reduce the risk of post-operative complications and promote osseointegration.
