The SMART TOW WINDING project is aimed at developing a new technology for the production of high performance composite products, characterized by a high degree of automation and control, and by a strong competitive advantage in terms of optimization of the cost/performance ratio. The developed machine allows carrying out the automated impregnation and winding of carbon fiber tows for the production of closed section components, such as vessels and tubular elements.
The project, coordinated by Comec Innovative srl, involves the companies ATM srl, Axist srl and Geven spa, the Polytechnic University of Marche and the University of L'Aquila.
In this context, the UNIVPM group deals with the phase of study, development, design and support for the realization of the tow impregnation and winding unit, as well as with the analysis of the environmental and economic impacts of the developed processes and products.
